    SQL Developer - Direct Hire

    CDI IT Solutions has a great opportunity for a SQL Developer at our client in Phoenix, AZ.  This is a full time, direct hire opportunity!

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    - Provide outsourcing/co-sourcing services to clients client's. Use your technical SQL Server skills to assist in supporting, customizing, and enhancing a large web-based Employee Benefits Enrollment and Administration System. Use your experience in formal development methodology, your communication skills, and your commitment to client service, to provide operational excellence in delivering administrative services.
    - Provide production support for a specific application or group of applications. Activities include problem analysis, break/fix, testing, and promotion to the production environment.
    - Analyze, code, and test moderate to complex database modules (both new and changes to existing) from design specifications and client requirements. Ensure the finished product meets the design objectives and any other appropriate criteria associated with the original request. Produce complete and accurate documentation for work based on current documentation standards.
    - Participate in a development team in the redesign and redevelopment of our existing application, utilizing the full system development life cycle, including the following:

    - Develop database design specifications
    - Program new database features as well as updates and enhancements
    - Customize database features and functions to meet specific client requirements
    - Perform unit testing and participate in quality assurance activities
    - Work with customer liaison staff to implement database-related changes in support of web-based systems and related administrative services
    - Provide system-related training to customer liaison staff
    - Respond in a timely manner to changing customer requirements, as well as technical issues
    - Prepare and enhance technical system documentation, as well as documentation of operating procedures

    - Ability to work within established schedules and delivery dates. High level of commitment to on-time delivery.
    - Participate in regular status meetings with relevant staff. Identify problems and bring them to supervisor’s attention with sufficient lead time to avert crises. Also identify changes in scope or work effort that could result in budgetary overrun or the missing of delivery dates.
    - Work effectively as part of a team and seek to support the team’s goals above individual goals.
    - Continually broaden your own technical, functional, and industry skill base.
    - Suggest ways to better accomplish assigned tasks.
    - Understand how supported software programs fit into the overall system.
    - Provide on-call support outside normal business hours as needed.
    - Display aptitude and interest in achieving an expert proficiency level of the business functions and technical architecture used in their area and the appropriate industry practices where applicable
    - Take initiative within defined limits
    - Notify supervisors/escalate issues when problems or issues arise that are outside of normal scope of area

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Required: 
    -  4 to 6 years experience in a relational database environment, primarily SQL Server
    - 3 to 5 years direct experience as a developer/analyst in Microsoft SQL Server within a team-based development environment
    - Design, development and testing of database code, complex stored procedures, triggers, database scripts and reports
    - Transact-SQL, SQL Server 2000, DTS packages
    - Direct experience developing complex applications using Microsoft development standards and practices.

    - Strong familiarity with and experience in formalized development methodologies.
    - High level of motivation and initiative, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment and quickly acquire proficiency.
    - Commitment to quality and operational excellence.
    - Ability to communicate effectively. This position requires courteous and professional communication with customers, co-workers, and management, both verbally and in writing.
    - Proven ability to establish effective, professional working relationships with both customers and co-workers.
    - Strong attention to detail.

    Desired:
    - A background in Employee Health & Welfare Administration is a definite plus.
    - Familiarity with SOA principles
    - Experience with SQL Server 2005

    Education and Typical Years of Experience:
    - Bachelors degree, preferably in Business or Computer Information Systems
    -  6 - 8 years of experience supporting development of multiple-tier applications
