    [ASP.NET Group] Get Involved with the WPF Revolution

    August 2nd, 2006 - 6-9pm
    Location :: UAT

    You may not have heard of XUL or SVG, but you've certainly heard of Flash.  Microsoft has been busy rounding out a technology called Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) that, along with .NET, takes these technologies to the next level.  WPF is set to ship with Vista, and will rock the world of UI.  In the next OS it renders all kinds of content, from whole applications to gadgets in the sidebar to new styles of web pages.  Soon after being released in Vista, versions of WPF will also be made available for Macintosh and Firefox.  So this is an important technology to become familiar with.

    Last month's meeting was an introduction to the markup language used in WPF called XAML.  In this presentation Lorin will do a quick 15 minute recap of those concepts, and then dig into creating WPF applications in Visual Studio.  Concepts of event handling, animation, 3D rendering, and data binding will be shown.

    If you want to get started with WPF now, check out Lorin’s recent blog post covering some of what he demonstrated in the July meeting:
