    New to the forum

    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum, I'm a long time member of the Arizona ColdFusion Users' Group, but due to a recent job change, I'm now developing in ASP.Net.

Being new, I have a few questions:

    1.  Is there a local (Phoenix) ASP.Net users group?

    2.  If so where and when do they meet?

    3.  Can anyone recommend a good forum for answering ASP.Net related questions?  I've been using the one on asp.net, but it's slow to respond, and the responses are of dubious quality.

    Thanks,

    Re: New to the forum

    1) Yes.

    2) We meet at U.A.T. (University of Advancing Technology) on the 1st Wednesday of every month.  Check out the calendar on the home page of this site http://www.azgroups.com/Default.aspx. The sessions are very good.  Also if you get a chance try to go to the next desert code camp (desertcodecamp.com).

    3) Right now there are two locations.  AZGroups is working on switching to use the forums here on this site.  We also actively use yahoo groups (AZGroups@yahoogroups.com).  While there are some non-ASP.NET questions asked, most are ASP.NET related.

     I hope this helps,

    2.  Thanks, I won't be able to make it to this next one, but I'll be sure to be there in December.  What's the turn out for these meetings?

     3.  Unfortunately, Yahoo Groups are blocked at work, so I'll be limited to the forum.

    Re: New to the forum

I can't really answer the turn out.  The meetings used to be on Tuesday.  Since they were changed to Wednesday I have not been able to attend.  I am a Cub Scout leader and meet on Wednesday evenings.  When they were on Tuesday the turn out was around 35 (give or take 10).

Are the emails or the website blocked?  Yahoo groups allows for reading/posting via both methods.  You can read the post on the web or have it email you the postings.  Do you have access to Gmail or another email service at work?  If so, then at home sign up and have the messages go to your email account.  You will be able to post a message by simply sending an email to AZGroups@yahoogroups.com.  Though you have to add the email address you are sending from to your yahoo group profile before sending an email post.  It will reject the post if the email address is not part of your profile.

    Re: New to the forum

Yahoo Groups are blocked for me on site as well.  I can get my employer's email via Outlook Web Access so I set my work email address up in Yahoo (did this from home) as another address, and am able to get the postings that are still going there.
