JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of the Application Development Team Leader position is:
To provide leadership for Application Architects and Sr. Application Architects within the Business Intelligence organization; including career development, corrective action, coaching/mentoring, and performance appraisal.
To ensure that key initiatives undertaken by the Business Intelligence organization are successful by providing diligent resource management and by ensuring that Business Intelligence methodologies are adhered to.
To provide project management oversight to key Business Intelligence initiatives as assigned.
To lead projects and participate in cross-functional IT teams to address business or system requirements and/or issues.
To assist in the development of processes, procedures, and establishing accurate documentation for applications developed for and used by Cox Arizona¿s business areas.
Provide technical leadership and direction for the Business Intelligence organization by partnering closely with the DBA Team Leader, Business Intelligence Manager, and the Infrastructure Manager.
Through recruitment, mentoring, training, and managing an advanced team of developers to assure the correct mix of skills meets current and future project demands.
Actively provides leadership and input to the Business Intelligence leadership team ensuring that the department vision and goals are met and that the leadership team is aligned.
JOB CONTENT / KEY RESULT AREAS
Primary job duties include:
Provides leadership for direct reports, actions including, but not limited to:
Coaching/Mentoring via 1:1 meetings
Providing timely and accurate feedback
Creates developmental plans
Conducts skills assessments
Providing corrective action
Managing activities against priorities/deliverables
Provides direction regarding priorities of requests.
Provides leadership and champions the Business Intelligence development methodologies and project management methodologies.
Leads and directs the daily operations of a team of Business Intelligence Application Architects and Sr. Application Architects to architect, design, develop, test, release and maintain multiple software products.
Provides leadership/direction regarding the entire Systems Development Life Cycle methodologies employed and ensures appropriate development artifacts are produced throughout the lifecycle.
Creates, implements and tracks development timelines and resources - ensures that specifications are met.
Provides leadership/direction regarding construction, testing and implementation; ensures that quality coding standards are practiced (i.e. standard documenting for commenting out code, standard approach to development, templates are created and adhered to).
Contribute to the technical architecture, development process, and implementation alternatives for development solutions based on .Net technologies and including open source solutions where appropriate.
Objectively select appropriate technologies based on the business priorities and requirements.
Determines rapid application development efforts vs. standard development efforts.
Rapid identification of risk or issues and corresponding remedial actions; works closely with Project Analysts to ensure successful delivery of development projects.
Accurately and timely estimate work effort and developer resource needs.
Develops relevant documents and presents project implementation plans.
Appropriately and effectively communicates project status to all necessary parties.
Actively utilizes project and time management skills to complete projects within specified timeframes.
Adheres to strict change control management and ensures team is compliant with change control at all times.
Ensures that appropriate steps are taken to maintain production environment stability.
Partners with the Business Analyst Team Leader and Database Administration Team Leader to ensuring that the leadership vision is executed.
Also partners with the Business Analyst Team Leader and Database Administration Team Leader to ensure that processes are continuously adhered to and evaluated.
Builds relationships with other field IT sites and leads efforts for field best practices for distributed development.
Builds and fosters relationships with corporate IT.

QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
Five plus years work; directly-related work experience.
Five plus years experience in data system implementation and trouble-shooting work experience with billing systems and adjacent data stores.
MS Office Suite Proficiency (including Microsoft Project)
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
Advanced knowledge of ASP.Net
Intermediate knowledge of Reporting Services
Intermediate knowledge of Dell PowerEdge Servers.
Basic knowledge of TCP/IP.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
